What is ear training?
Ear training is the practice of recognizing musical elements — notes, intervals, chords, rhythms — by listening alone. It's one of the most valuable skills a musician can build, helping you learn songs faster, improvise more confidently, and play in tune without relying on sheet music.
How the challenge works
Pick a mode above, then answer 10 rounds. Each round plays a short sound — a single note, two notes forming an interval, or a full chord — and you choose the correct answer from four options. At the end, you'll get a percentage score you can share with a name and a link back to CleanTune, so your friends can try to beat it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need perfect pitch to play this game?
No. The game is designed for any skill level. Notes mode leans on absolute pitch recognition, while intervals and chords mode train relative pitch, which almost anyone can improve with practice.
Is my score saved anywhere?
No accounts or data are stored. At the end of each round you can enter a name and generate a shareable image with your score to post on social media.
