How to use the online metronome

Drag the slider or use the +/- buttons to set your tempo in beats per minute (BPM), then press play. The dots pulse in time — the first beat of each measure is highlighted in red so you can track the downbeat at a glance.

Don't know the exact tempo of a song? Use Tap Tempo: tap the button in rhythm at least twice and CleanTune will calculate the BPM automatically.

Start slow

Practice new passages at 60-70% of the target tempo, then increase gradually as accuracy improves.

Match the time signature

Select the correct time signature so accents land on the right beat for the piece you're practicing.

Practice with a metronome daily

Even five minutes a day locked to a click track builds internal timing faster than playing without one.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good BPM to practice with a metronome?

Most practice starts between 60 and 90 BPM for beginners, increasing gradually as the passage becomes comfortable. Advanced players often practice scales and exercises well above 120 BPM.

How does tap tempo work?

Tap the tap-tempo button in rhythm at least twice, and CleanTune calculates the BPM from the time between your taps.
